Project Manager – Utility-Scale Solar & Storage (IPP)

OpenMind Staffing is partnering with a growing independent power producer seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee the execution of utility-scale solar and energy-storage projects.

This is an owner/developer-side position responsible for managing projects as they transition from late-stage development through engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and operations. The Project Manager will work closely with development, engineering, construction, finance, legal, commercial, and EPC partners while maintaining responsibility for project schedule, budget, quality, safety, and overall financial performance.

Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple utility-scale solar and storage projects from preconstruction through commissioning and closeout

  • Maintain accountability for project scope, schedule, budget, quality, safety, and contractual requirements

  • Manage project budgets, revenue, costs, margins, forecasts, and overall project P&L

  • Coordinate internal engineering, construction, development, finance, legal, and commercial teams

  • Manage EPC contractors, subcontractors, consultants, utilities, landowners, municipalities, and other project stakeholders

  • Lead contractor qualification, bid review, scope development, price negotiation, and contracting

  • Oversee project administration, including meetings, document control, submittals, change orders, quality control, commissioning, and closeout

  • Ensure compliance with project contracts, permits, safety programs, applicable codes, and regulatory requirements

  • Coordinate required approvals with utilities, interconnection providers, customers, and authorities having jurisdiction

  • Support project diligence, constructability reviews, site investigations, permitting, design development, and project financing activities

  • Identify project risks, develop mitigation strategies, and take corrective action when performance differs from plan

  • Provide clear and timely reporting to internal leadership, investors, partners, and other stakeholders

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of progressive project-management experience supporting utility-scale, ground-mounted solar or energy-storage construction

  • Experience managing projects for an IPP, renewable-energy developer, owner, or EPC contractor

  • Strong understanding of EPC contracts, project schedules, budgets, plans, specifications, codes, and construction methods

  • Demonstrated experience managing contractors and cross-functional project teams

  • Experience with project financial closing requirements and the transition from development into construction

  • Understanding of project P&L, cost forecasting, revenue recognition, and margin management

  • Experience with major civil and sitework scopes, including grading and cut-and-fill operations, strongly preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related discipline preferred

  • Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities

  • Willingness to travel regularly to project sites
