Development Manager - NYC

OpenMind Staffing partners with growing renewable-energy developers across the Northeast. We are seeking Development Managers who can lead distributed solar and energy-storage projects from early-stage development through construction readiness and financial close.

Candidates with experience in New York solar and storage markets, including permitting, interconnection, community engagement, and state incentive programs, are especially encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage solar and energy-storage projects from early-stage development through notice to proceed and financial close

  • Coordinate site acquisition, real estate, title, interconnection, engineering, survey, environmental, permitting, and offtake activities

  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, risk assessments, and key deliverables

  • Manage relationships with landowners, utilities, local officials, consultants, and other project stakeholders

  • Prepare land-use and permitting applications and represent projects at public meetings and hearings

  • Identify development risks and create practical strategies to keep projects moving

  • Support market research, project origination, and expansion into new markets

  • Travel periodically to project sites and stakeholder meetings

Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of renewable-energy or energy-infrastructure development experience

  • Experience with distributed generation, community solar, or battery storage strongly preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to advance projects through major development milestones

  • Familiarity with Northeast or Mid-Atlantic energy markets

  • Strong project-management, organizational, and analytical skills

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder-management abilities

  • Comfortable taking ownership and working independently in a fast-moving environment

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, environmental studies, energy, or a related discipline
